REPORT ON DODDABALLAPUR PUBLIC OUT REACH PROGRAMME.
The department of Public Health Dentistry of Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences in association with Sri Ramana free clinic Trust had conducted a Public Oral Health out-reach programme in selected government high schools of Doddaballpur taluk in the month of January and February.

The treatment was rendered by a team of doctors after seeking informed consent from the parents and the treatment included a combination of oral prophylaxis, restorations and extractions which was carried out in the mobile dental van of Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences with free of cost.
For further advanced treatment, patients were referred to Krishnadevaraya College of Dental Sciences.
All the children were provided oral health education as part of the programme which included general information on teeth, oral health, tooth brushing techniques, ill effects of tobacco and preventive techniques of oral diseases.
It was observed that in most of the schools the knowledge of oral health was very poor and they also believed in myths about oral health & diseases. The attitude towards dental care was callous most of them brushed only once daily as opposed to the ideal frequency which is twice a day, due to which their oral health was very poor specifically to dental decay.
The availability of oral health care and facilities were very much scarce due which utilization of oral health services was not found in most students.
So, this programme has helped the students and parents to improve their knowledge and attitude towards the oral health which in turn helps to improve their general heath also.
